The Certified Virtual Assets Associate (CVAA) program is designed to provide a practical understanding of virtual assets, their regulatory environment, and the risks they pose to financial institutions and other businesses. It builds on core AML/CFT principles and translates them into the fast‑evolving world of crypto assets so participants can strengthen their controls and respond effectively to new regulatory expectations.
CVAA Online Certification
The online course is a self‑paced, interactive option for participants who want to complete the certification on their own schedule. Through open forums and discussions, participants will be able to actively engage with the instructor and classmates while completing assigned readings, narrated PowerPoint modules, practice quizzes, and the final certification exam within 60 days.
Learning objectives
Participants who complete the program will be able to:
Refresh their understanding of fundamental AML/CFT concepts applicable across industries, including a recap for those who already hold the AMLCA designation.
Explain the basics of AMLA 2020 expectations and how understanding these requirements supports the design of effective internal controls.
Review the main principles behind MiCA, the EU Crypto‑Asset Regulation, and how comparable rules are emerging in the United States.
Understand key concepts related to definitions, prohibitions or limitations, licensing/registration of Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs), and Travel Rule obligations in virtual asset transfers.
Identify risks associated with virtual assets, including exposure to ransomware and other financial crimes, and describe risk‑mitigation strategies for institutions and VASPs.
